Localised App for Locals
Hong Kong often experiences a shortfall in recognition of its local sports scene. Our aspiration is to create a platform that bridges the gap between Hong Kong sports and the community. The application aims to feature an extensive list of Hong Kong's sports events, encompassing live scores, past results, team information, and associated participants. By offering a comprehensive sports event hub, we aim to bring the public nearer to the progress of sports in Hong Kong.
Data Preparation
Data management is a critical challenge for this project. The event information depends on the data supplied by various sports associations, which often isn't well-organized. Some of it comes in plain text, while other data is in image form, complicating our data processing efforts.

As a workaround, we've chosen to extract data from the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) as a demonstration. They offer data in a relatively structured format that can be effectively displayed in our app. Once the app is operational, we plan to engage with different sports associations to improve data management. We might provide them with a template Excel file for uploading sports data, or we could eventually establish API integration for a more streamlined process.
